The Startup World Cup Portugal 2026 is the national stage of one of the world's largest startup pitch competitions. Organized by Fasttrack (Fasttrack Ventures) in partnership with the Silicon Valley-based VC firm Pegasus Tech Ventures, it serves as a gateway for Portuguese startups to compete for a $1 million investment prize.

Following the success of the first edition in 2025, the 2026 edition has expanded significantly, positioning Portugal as a strategic hub for the competition in Southern Europe and Brazil.

🗓️ Key Dates & Locations

The competition is no longer just a single event in Lisbon; it now includes regional "roadshows" to reach startups across the country.

• Regional Roadshows:
  • Aveiro: May 27, 2026 (Mini-conference and mentoring).
    
  • Algarve: June 3, 2026 (Roundtable and mentoring).
    
• Main Event (Lisbon):
  • June 17, 2026: Executive Conference ("Building Bridges Through Innovation") featuring international speakers.
    
  • June 18, 2026: National Pitch Competition at Unicorn Factory Lisboa.
    

🏆 The Prize & Global Stage

The winner of the Lisbon final will be crowned the national champion and travel to San Francisco (Silicon Valley) to represent Portugal in the Global Grand Finale. There, they will compete against winners from over 70 other countries for the $1,000,000 direct investment.

🚀 Who Can Apply?

The competition is looking for startups with "disruptive solutions" in sectors like AI, Fintech, Healthtech, and Sustainability. To be eligible, startups generally need:

• A functional MVP (Minimum Viable Product).
  
• At least 3 months of market traction.
  
• The ability to pitch in English.
