On 16 May 2026, TEDxPraça Gil Eanes will explore one of the most powerful forces in life: change.

The theme draws inspiration from the humble caterpillar, a creature that must break down completely in order to transform.

But did you know that less than 2% of caterpillars actually become butterflies?

Much like nature, change unfolds through uncertainty, challenge, and growth, whether personal, societal, or global. This event will be a space to reflect on change across different fields and human experiences, and the beauty that emerges through transformation.

TEDxPraça Gil Eanes is an independently organized, volunteer-run event in Lagos, Portugal, focused on sharing innovative, locally relevant ideas within the Algarve community. The 2026 event focuses on "Metamorphosis – The Beauty of Change," featuring talks on science, innovation, and society.
