Algarve in the Spotlight at Web Summit 2025: Regional Innovation Conquers the Global Stage

The tech ecosystem of Southern Portugal reaffirmed its vitality at the 2025 edition of Web Summit Lisbon, from Nov 10 -13, 2025 . Under the banner of unity and growth, the ANJE Algarve established a dedicated "island," serving as an embassy for the Algarve’s talent and companies at the world’s largest technology event.

An Island of Opportunities

The Algarve's presence at Web Summit was more than just institutional; it was strategic. The Algarve island functioned as a dynamic meeting point where investors, international partners, and global talent discovered that the region is far more than a tourism destination — it is a rapidly expanding tech hub.

As one engine of this ecosystem, Algarve Evolution facilitated crucial bridges, demonstrating that technological decentralization in Portugal is a consolidated reality and that the Algarve offers unique conditions for scaling tech-based companies.

The Companies: The Face of Algarvian Innovation

The regional companies that joined the delegation showcased cutting-edge solutions in sectors such as AI, Blue Economy, Smart Tourism, and Sustainability. This collective presence enabled:

  • International Visibility: Direct exposure to thousands of participants and global media outlets.
  • Strategic Networking: B2B meetings that opened doors to new markets and investment rounds.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Direct contact with the latest trends shaping the future of the digital economy.

"Web Summit 2025 was the perfect stage to demonstrate that the Algarve has a mature, collaborative ecosystem ready for global challenges. Our 'island' reflected this strong union between the association and our entrepreneurs," states the Algarve Evolution board.

For this international event, ANJE (National Association of Young Entrepreneurs) opened a call to take more than 24 Algarvian startups to the event.

This initiative was part of the Algarve Empreende 2026 project, developed in partnership with other regional entities (such as the University of Algarve, AMAL, NERA, and Algarve Evolution itself). The objective was to ensure these companies had a prominent space at the event, specifically within the "Algarve Tech Hub" stand, to pitch their projects to international investors and partners.

Looking Ahead

The outcome of this participation is extremely positive, reinforcing the Algarve's position as a prime location to live, work, and invest in technology. Algarve Evolution will continue to work to ensure that the impact of the connections made in Lisbon translates into economic growth and value creation for the region in the coming months.
