Lagoa Teens AI Design Sprint
Give to Gain: Free AI Design Sprint for Young People (12–18) Across the Algarve
Teens in AI, a UK-based global social impact initiative inspiring the next generation of innovators in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, announces a free two-day AI Design Sprint (hackathon) in the Algarve as part of its International Women’s Day 2026 Global Techathon.
The event, taking place on February 21st and 22nd, will be delivered in partnership with Nobel British International School (Lagoa), Algarve Evolution, and Algarve Tech Hub, bringing together students, mentors, and role models to promote responsible, inclusive, and ethical use of AI.
Aligned with the International Women’s Day 2026 theme, “Give to Gain,” the initiative highlights the power of collective action, mentorship, and generosity in shaping a more equitable future in technology. With women representing just 22% of data and AI professionals worldwide (UNESCO), early engagement and inclusive pathways into AI remain critical.
The Algarve AI Design Sprint is open to students aged 12–18 from any school in the region and welcomes all genders. No prior technical experience is required. Participants will work in teams to learn how AI works, explore ethics and responsible AI, and develop solutions addressing real-world challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Teams will present their projects, with prizes awarded for innovation and collaboration.
